New York based actor/singer/dancer Evan Mayer can currently be seen as “Sasha” in the critically acclaimed production of “Fidler Afn Dakh” (Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish) directed by Joel Grey, Off-Broadway at Stage 42. He previously originated the role in the production downtown at The National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene.

Evan is a proud cheese head, hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The midwest proved to be an incredible place to foster his love for the arts. His childhood home was always filled with music, whether it was singing along with his Grandpa on his guitar or listening to his mom's vinyl collection on repeat. He quickly fell in love with theatre and moved to Bloomington, Indiana to pursue a BFA in musical theatre at Indiana University. With diploma in hand, Evan moved to New York and soon thereafter joined Actors Equity Association.

This isn’t Evan’s first visit to Anatevke. He began his professional career playing Motel at Music Theatre Wichita, where he went on to perform in eight other musicals including the regional premiere of “Mary Poppins” and the US premiere of “Betty Blue Eyes” (as Sergeant Noble)! Evan has had the opportunity to tour both nationally and internationally in “Annie,” directed by Martin Charnin, “My Fair Lady,” with choreography by Denis Jones, and “A Christmas Story,” with choreography by Warren Carlyle. Along with touring, Evan has worked at some of the most prestigious regional theaters around the country including Goodspeed Musicals, Fulton Opera House, Buck’s County Playhouse, and Cape Playhouse.

Evan is equally passionate about his life off the stage. He loves the outdoors, hiking and camping whenever he's able to fit it in his schedule. He plays volleyball, tennis, and recently joined a sailing organization on the Hudson River. In his free time he travels all around the world, crossing off seven new countries last year alone. He’s made it his mission to spark a travel revolution and share his passion with others. He recently began a new blog @thetravelwingman aimed to inspire other millennials to leave behind their inhibitions and learn about themselves through the lens of another culture.
